This year, we are proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission. Our team is led by Collier McMullen and Grey Cullens and we are leading an amazing team of 14 canidates consisting of Bennet Britt, George Peeler, Alexa Henningsen, Izzy Clements, Paige Jaquin, Sarah Kirkpatrick, Meriwether Jaax, Lane Rodts, Sophia Toledo, Carter Bennett, Ella Metzner, Gabby Tavel, Caroline Pruitt, and Betsy Guy. 

We are doing this in hopes to change the lives of all those affected by cancer and we hope to make an imact. 

Collier's Why: 

I am participating in this organization in honor of my great-grandfather who died of myeloma. At the time he passed away there had not been many advancements in treatment for his specific type of cancer. Now patients with his same diagnosis could live ten to twenty years with this disease. I want to advocate for others who have myeloma, because I want to give people the opportunity to spend time with their family, which mine did not get to do.  I would not wish this upon any family, and I know how tough it can be. Because of this, in the future I would like to be a pediatric oncologist and help find a cure for kids who have cancer. 

Grey's Why:

I’m participating in this campaign to help advocate for people who don’t believe they have a voice. My Grandma was one of these people at one point in her life. Millie (my grandma) was one of the few people, I know, who had cancer. Thankfully she is in remission, because I don’t know what I would do without her. One of my favorite things to do is shop with her when I visit her at Saint Simmons. Without my grandma I don’t know what I would do; looking forward to seeing her is the best part of my year. I’m glad she kept fighting even when she didn’t feel like moving forward. I hope each and every family gets through the hard times with their loved ones and make sure they feel safe and loved. I also hope they keep fighting no matter how hard life gets; I will continue to advocate and give a voice to people who feel like no one is listening.

• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
